The Library and the School have jointly
handled several consultancy projects. These
range from the planning and design of
libraries (of schools, technical institutes,
professional organizations), indexing of
newspapers (Times of India) and journals
[Marg], evaluating libraries, to developing
a plan for the Learning Resources
Utilization Centre at the Government
Polytechnic, Mumbai, under the World Bank
project, developing a gender studies
gateway, a digital library on women and
reproductive health, and a web site for
library information for the Department of
Scientific and Industrial Research. They
have also
developed several database structures for
the organization of information (including
databases of Government Resolutions and
files for the Government of Maharashtra’s
Earthquake Relief Documentation Project )
created thesauri for indexing, and conducted
training programs for librarians, NGOs and
faculty.
Library follows Dewey Decimal Classification
System for classification of books and
organizing the collection on the shelf. Some
of the major class numbers used are labeled
on the stacks.
