With its heritage of more than 90 years the unwinds the contemporary state of affairs of the country and thus plays a vital role in the news world bulletin. Although being one of the oldest English newspapers it reaches the roots in the urban realities. Further, the E-paper initiative of Free Press Journal is congratulated and the same has also has gained popularity in these times

We all are aware that World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the recent outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), a pandemic indicating significant and ongoing personto-person spread in multiple countries, with the uncertainty about the extent of spread and the likely impact on the global economy. Several confirmed cases have been detected and have been increasing at an alarming rate in India, which highlights the need of a co-ordinated strategy for handling the emerging situations for protecting the resilience of the Indian financial system.

Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women’s University, which is the first Women’s University in South-East Asia, which forever emphasised on the empowerment of women and further has a heritage of more than a hundred years for its contribution to the society at large, in today’s pressing times where the whole world is under a shadow of crisis and twinge, owing to the pandemic - Novel Corona Virus (COVID – 19), has immensely contributed by assisting the society by all means it can.

As the Registrar of this multi- disciplinary University, I DR. DEEPAK DESHPANDE, take this opportunity to exemplify on the contribution made by the University to the Society during this emergency.SNDT Women’s University has given its Hostel’s at Churchgate and Juhu campuses, at Mumbai as quarantine centres for suspected victims of Covid-19. The University staff has also contributed its one day salary to CHIEF MINISTER’S RELIEF FUND-COVID 19. The NSS cadets, the students of Shahada Co-op. Education Society Ltd.'s Sr. Arts Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Shahada, Nandurbar which is our Affiliated College volunteered and distributed homemade masks as well as educated the adopted villages on the precautionary measures to be observed during the pandemic Covid-19. In order to create an awareness regarding this situation, SNDT Women’s has taken instant cognisance and implemented the UGC notifications/circulars received from the Department of Higher Education from time to time.

While the Government of India, in co-ordination with the state machineries, is already taking steps for preventing and controlling the local transmission of disease, we - as a Educational Institution, stand by them in their times of need & continue to support them as and when required by all possible means.
