| Press release: Tagore Literacy Award 2014 |
SNDT Women’s University was awarded Tagore Literacy Award 2014 for its contribution towards promotion and development of literacy amongst women. Tagore Literacy Award was constituted in 1987 by The Indian Adult Education Association, New Delhi.Prof Shashikala Wanjari, Vice Chancellor SNDT Women’s University was given the award by Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Ram Naik, in a function held on 4th December 2016 at Lucknow.
The Award in its citation acknowledged the contribution of Department of Continuing and Adult Education and Extension Work (CAEEW) and notes about the basic education provided to thousands of rag pickers at the Pune Sub-Centre who have formed “Kagad Kaach Patra Prathisthan”.
