The global reach of social media is ever expanding with the increasing internet access across the globe. Social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn have become a part of daily discussions and activities. The use of social media among students has increased tremendously as social media sites are accessible through not only computers but also on mobile phones. It is important to learn about various social media tools and resources available in different subject areas. Students can use these resources for their academic work. A conference on Social Media will offer an opportunity to students-participants to the debates surrounding media technology, society and lifelong learning. There have been many forays into the world of social media for attempting to ensure healthy lifestyles, health monitoring, and messages of mental health and de-stigmatization of psychological disturbance. Reaching out to the elderly will become all the more possible with greater awareness of the power of Social Media and acceptance of these pathways by people of all ages.
