Eligibility
  • Min. 50% marks in Graduation as per Rehabilitation of Council of India norms.
  • Min. 45% for candidates belonging to reserved category as per existing State Government rules.
  • Reservation for candidates with Visual Impairment, Hearing Impairment and Physical Disability, as per Government rules.
  • Parents/Caregivers of children with special needs may audit the course if they do not meet the eligibility criteria. They will not be eligible to appear in semester exams. They will be given certificate of attendance from Centre of Special Education, SNDT Women’s University.

Course Objectives

The course is designed to enable the student teachers to:

  • Explain and respond to the educational, physical and vocational needs of persons with disabilities.
  • Develop skills in systematic assessment.
  • Develop curriculum for persons with visual Impairment (VI).
  • Plan and implement educational programmes needed for the children with special needs (VI)
  • Familiarize themselves with the management of special education programmes for children with VI.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with parents, family, doctors and the community to help children with disabilities become productive and useful members of the society.
  • Develop abilities and skills to create awareness and Sensitivity in the society towards persons with disabilities.
  • Promote and facilitate inclusion of children with special education needs in the mainstream.
