Highlights of the Master's program

The Master's program is divided into four semesters with Core papers covered in the first two semesters, and the latter two dealing with electives and research, wherein the student submits a dissertation. A USP of this Department is that students are informed at the outset of the program, ie at the time of admission, about the specialization they would get, based on merit, thereby allowing them to chart out a clear career path for themselves.

One of the most attractive aspects of the Psychology Masters offered here is the emphasis on field based practicum and hands on training. Students are placed in multiple field sites where they are exposed to the real world of work of professional psychologists and receive training in handling cases in the field of psychology, within their chosen domain.

A brief outline:
Counseling psychology

Students are exposed to the various adjustment problems, career choices and creative endeavors of children, adolescents and families.

Clinical psychology

Students learn hands on how to deal with people facing severe mental illness and conditions that would require long term treatment, care and rehabilitation. This postgraduate programme focuses exclusively on Counselling Psychology, integrating theoretical foundations with practical training. It prepares students to work effectively in diverse mental health and community settings, fostering emotional resilience, self-awareness, and ethical practice.

Industrial psychology

Students would be placed into corporate settings and learn to deal with the demands from the psychologist in the world of work, specifically training, selection, competency mapping, etc.
